Five letters and a calling card, include a detailed 4 p. letter probably to a supportive critic (1859 January 30), Bartholdi refers to projects related to architecture including a fountain, a Salon exhibition, and a publication on his work. In another letter (1866 April), he discusses a monument at Mulhouse and comments on public sculpture in general. In a letter to R. Koechlin (1889 January 20), he discusses colossal sculpture, in particular the Colossus of Rhodes and Pliny's description of it, which he believes to be partially erroneous.
